…is (once more on this trip) very satisfying as beers go. The initial taste is subdued, with the aroma having a larger effect on one’s olfactory senses. This breaks away, leaving an almost bubbly effect that brings the flavours through. One really shouldn’t expect less from a beer often touted as the world’s best. As with the others mentioned so far, also available in New Zealand.
On a side note, dinner tonight was frankfurters, with fresh bread. The bread was almost melt in the mouth, with great texture, while the frankfurters were chock full of flavour. Again, another home run for the Eastern Europeans.

It’s a pity that decent beers from Europe are so expensive in comparison to the American and Australian brands we get here in NZ. As you have discovered the taste and aroma are so much more developed, yet subtle, than the alternatives. I’m quite partial to Staropramen when I can locate it in the supermarket.
Steinie pure all the way! I’d never touch the original Steingrenades but the new stuff’s pretty good.
Steinlager is gross. All beer is really – only one I touch is Corona with a wedge of lime on a really hot summer day.
Why is it so hard to get fresh bread here?? The stuff from the bakeries and so on are usually full of preservatives and other stuff. If I go through the motions of buying fresh bread it’s cause I want to eat it that day, not keep it for a week!!!!
