New server implementations, progress on domain name registration

Monday, 25th May, 2009

Our latest shiny new server is now in use. We've configured and deployed a new web hosting server, and all clients on 'Shared-14' have been moved to the new hardware. Results from testing over the last week have been flawless, and we're extremely satisfied with the performance of the new environment. The move bumps CPU cores to 8, and RAM from 8GB to 24GB of RAM. Feel free to make full use of the new resources.

The previous server will be given additional RAM, and re-assigned as a DNS/mail server.

New servers, changes to the site, Domain Name registration, nameservers, new Mothership services

Monday, 1st December, 2008

We've been busy lately working on some new features for our clients, so here they are:

Another new hosting server is about to be deployed. We are currently in the process of speccing and introducing a new server; once we've done so and are happy with the results of the testing, we'll be moving clients on our oldest current server over ('z' server). We'll be contacting all clients when the time comes to do this.

Domain Name Registration. We're building new functionality into our website that will allow automated search, registration, and purchase of domain names. The team are currently very busy, but we're looking to see this done before Christmas if there's a break in the traffic.

Nameservers. Along with the new hosting server, we're also speccing new Nameservers to take care of DNS for our servers. No ETA on this yet, we'll announce it when there is.

New Mothership services coming. We've always been about more than just the websites and the hosting, and we've expanded our skill base greatly this year with some great new projects being undertaken for clients. As such, we'll be formalising these services, and making an announcement regarding what we can do for you in 2009.

datacentre

During January we moved all hosting clients, blogs, forums, and other online services to a new data centre.

New servers were also introduced at this time with new hardware featuring 3GHz Intel Dual Core Dual CPU Xeon processors, 4GB of ECC RAM, and RAID disk arrays. These impressive machines mean that mothership's services will be faster and more responsive than ever!

Why Your Web Site Should be Designed by a Web Designer

Monday, 17 January 2005

Web developers are frequently asked to work with a client-supplied design created by a print/marketing company. Experienced in print and other traditional marketing, many companies are unaware of the value of a well designed web site. Unfortunately for web designers, this means the wrong choices are made in respect to the site...more

RapidWeaver - a template based web design tool

Friday, 14 January 2005
rapidweaver

RapidWeaver is an easy to use web design application that has it's place in today's web environment. Using templates, the application allows users with no knowledge of (X)HTML/CSS to create standards compliant sites that display correctly in all popular browsers in OS X, Windows, and Linux. Yes, RapidWeaver does lack the control that hand coding allows, but the application allows the average user to create robust sites quickly and easily.
